  • IE TCD MS 492 is a copy of the Venerable Bede’s Historia Ecclesiastica Gentis Anglorum (folios 1-175v), which relates the history of English Christianity. Also present are Cuthberth’s Epistola De Obitu Bedae (Bede’s death song, folios 175v-177); a tract about the progress of Christianity in England (folios 177-178v); and Notationes De Sanctis Qui In Anglia Requiescunt (folios 178v-180). Dates from around 1130-1169.Latin and Middle English. Script is in a single hand; some decoration and ornaments are present in gold and colours.
