  • IE TCD MS 258 is a Waldensian Bible containing the New Testament with Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Canticles, Wisdom and Ecclesiasticus (chapters 1-23), written in a single hand in 1522. The Waldensian movement was a Christian spiritual movement founded in the 12th century by Pierre Valdès (c.1140-c.1205), a rich merchant from Lyon.178 folios (folio 32* supplied to Trinity in July 1984 and inserted. MS note at end: “Date of foliation unknown. 32* supplied 9 July 1984.”); some colour decorations, including dragon-like creatures, throughout. Initials each red and/or blue, with green, red or blue flourishes; capitals marked with red. Leather binding tooled in blind; tightly bound, some text obscured.
