Abstract
  • A plan of the town of Craggfargus [Carrickfergus]. On a scale of 160 feet to the inch. Contains several names of persons over houses and castles. 'Knogfergus in Ulster' is written of the map, with 'The towne of Knogfergus' also written on the back. Features orientation wheel with fleur-de-lys pointer to north. Dr. J.H. Andrews identified the map as by Robert Lythe and as of September 1567, in his article, 'Irish surveys of Robert Lythe' in Lux Mundi xix, 30. It may have been loaned by Burleigh to Carew and never returned by Carew, thus coming with Carew's maps to Trinity College Dublin.Similar to IE TCD MS 1209/27, but less perfect.
