- Colour design for two-light stained glass memorial window in Kilkenny Castle, dedicated to Constance Mary Butler daughter of the third Marquis of Ormonde. The window features angels and a view of Kilkenny Castle on the river Suir at the base, with memorial plaque and a banner.Attributed to William Dowling.Signatures/ Inscriptions: Top, in pencil: ‘’Clogheen’; ‘this side 3 cherubs and 2 angels, and could the colour of their wings be of some lovely blue or sea green.-the green of the crest of a wave when the sea shines thro it. here on a mist [?] colours or possibly some purple colour could be brought in’. Left, in pencil: ‘Holy ghost’; ‘Angels [sic] halos lighter more silvery looking’; ‘Robe of top angel lighter like pale colour in our Lords under robe and then paler and less pink wings fading into palest yellow against the darker blue sky’; ‘castle and mountains’; ‘trees at back of castle not to be so straight and hedge like as in small photo’; ‘[2 terraces down to field in front of castle)’. Right: ‘not so much all pink and red as here’; ‘sky here darker blue with bright golden star to balance dove opposite’; ‘all angel window’; ‘wreath of shamrock to surround lozenge shape shield as book plate but leaving out ormonde knots as this will go under the coat larger and on its own’; ‘red cross shield’; ‘inscription for window if lettering gets too squashed up more space could be had by lengthening space for inscrip.’ Bottom: ‘Title of subject: “He shall give His Angels charge over thee...” at base of window instead of flowers’; ‘Scale 1”=1’;’ ‘Clarke Studios Dublin’
