The Book of Common Prayer was the first book printed in Ireland. Description: [10] unnumbered leaves, 140 leaves ; 26.3 cm. (2°. \pi A¹° A-R⁸ S⁴). Several leaves, principally at beginning and end of text, have been repaired without loss of text. Leaf \pi A3 is bound in after \pi A1. Printing: Dubliniae [Dublin]: in officina Hvmfredi Povveli. Cum priuilegio ad imprimendum solum, Anno Domini 1551[= Printed Humphrey Powell, the privilege to be printed only in the year of 1551]. Printed in black letter type. Leaves in the first gathering (\pi A¹°) printed in red and black. Binding: Bound in early 19th-century morocco with gold fillets on covers and turn-ins; spine lettered direct in gold; gilt edges, dark green endpapers; binding repaired by Roger Powell in 1964 (separate typescript note).
