  • ‘Selling on the Stones’ at St. Patrick St., Dublin before Dublin Corporation closed it down in 1906. The woman facing towards the camera has been identified as Jenny Murray. Although this was known as a fish market there seems to be a variety of goods on sale.Description based on information found in My wallet of photographs: the collected photographs of J. M. Synge, arranged and introduced by Lilo Stephens (Dublin: Dolmen Editions, 1971).Date: approximately 1898-early 1900s.
