Abstract
  • [After G.Ck -- British Museum No. 12924]“Four couples are in position for a quadrille, on a boarded floor. A lady curtseys, a man bends forward, their posteriors collide. From a gallery the musicians, harp, 'cello, French horn, and flute, look down amused. The ladies wear high-waisted dresses slightly below the knee; the men, coats with narrow tails and tight pantaloons, or short loose trousers or knee-breeches.” (Source: George)
