  • IE TCD MS 11415/5 is a bound volume of Abram Smythe Palmer’s 'Verses and Translations', dated Eastbourne, 1916. It includes a photograph of the author taken around 1894, and one taken around 1874. Some of the poems contained here have been cut from publications, most are typescript. One is manuscript, possibly in the hand of one of Palmer's children, who had the material bound. Abram Smythe Palmer, born 1844, was a lecturer at Trinity College Dublin, and vicar of Holy Trinity, Wanstead. He died in 1917, and is buried at St Mary the Virgin, Willingdon, East Sussex. The Library holds 4 other volumes of Abram Smythe Palmer’s collected works, along with some unbound materials, as yet undigitised. These are IE TCD MS 11415/1, Archbishop Trench, Notes on the Miracles of Our Lord with an introduction by A Smythe Palmer (London: George Routledge & Sons); IE TCD MS 11415/2, A. Smythe Palmer, Babylonian Influence on the Bible and Popular Beliefs: a comparative study of Genesis 1.2 (London: David Nutt, 1897). Minor annotations; IE TCD MS 11415/3, bound volume of Palmer's literary essays with minor annotations. It includes the third annual report of the English Dialect Dictionary; IE TCD MS 11415/4, bound volume of Palmer's biblical essays; IE TCD MS 11415/6/1-19, loose material removed from the volumes including poetry and press cuttings.
