- Mending, or possibly making, a currach or naomhóg on the Great Blasket Island. Island men and boys gathered around the wooden frame of a boat. The roof of a cottage with whitewashed gables is visible in the background on the left, 13-27 August 1905. Description based on information found in My wallet of photographs: the collected photographs of J. M. Synge, arranged and introduced by Lilo Stephens (Dublin: Dolmen Editions, 1971).Date: approximately 1898-early 1900s.
